Assign Roles to a Custom Role

We suggest creating a custom role when a large number of users and/or permissions need to be assigned. The custom role will house all roles. The custom role can then be assigned to all users of each More4apps module or at the lower integrator level.

For a video on the steps below click here.

1.   Log in to your Oracle ERP Cloud instance with a user that has Security Console Access.
2.   Navigate to Tools > Security Console.
3.   On the left-hand pane, select the Roles page.
4.   Click Create Role.
5.   Provide the custom role name, code, category, then optionally flag if the role is predefined and/or enter a role description.
Note:  The category must be set to ‘Common – Job Roles’.
6.   Click Next.
7.   Add the roles required by the module or integrator in the Function Security Policies or Role Hierarchy sections as needed.
8.   In the Edit Role screen navigate to the Users section and click Add User.
9.   Search the user in the window that appears.
10.   Select the user and click Assign User to Role. (Repeat steps 9 and 10 for each user).
11.   Once complete, close the window and go to Summary at the end of the Edit Role screen.
12.   Click Save and Close.

This method is the most efficient way to have all assigned users inherit any updates made to the custom role automatically. For example, when More4apps released a new integrator for the module.

Important Once all assignments are completed, run the ‘Import User and Role Application Security Data’ process. Refer to the Schedule Processes to Complete Role Assignments section for further details. If this process is not run the changes made above will not come into effect.
