Descriptive Flex Fields (DFFs)

Descriptive flex fields can be uploaded in the Modules, supporting both dependent and independent lists of values. Note, table-based lists of values are not supported.

DFFs are validated, ensuring lists of values are valid. They also support defaulting as per their configuration in Oracle.

DFFs In the Sheet

When a new sheet is created, columns will be generated to reflect the configuration in your Cloud instance. Reducing overall sheet size and providing you only with what you need.

If in future, additional DFF attributes are configured, simply Log Out and back In.  Create a new sheet and the new columns will appear.

Column Labels
To know what each column is on the sheet, simply hover over the column name, this will show if the column is a Global or Context driven DFF. The images below show the column labels respectively.

The label will show up to 5 of the configured contexts on a single attribute/column.

If DFF labels need to be more visible, we recommend using rows 1-7 above to indicate the attribute names. Note, using the Copy Active Sheet functionality will retain any values entered in this location.

For example:

Read-Only DFFs
On sheet creation. Only Global DFFs that are configured as read-only will be colored grey to reflect the setup. As Context Driven DFFs can dynamically change between read-only and enterable fields, these will not be colored on the sheet.

The column label will also indicate it is read-only with the “(Read-Only)” suffix.

DFF Forms

All DFF sections have a form for data-entry and validation.

The DFF Context field can be searched to select the required Context. This will change the form fields where any attributes may be read-only.

Note, that read-only fields can still be typed in to, as columns will share attributes when multiple contexts are used. For example, a column might be read-only for one context but enabled for another.
